Vodkasatan: Sabbath Assembly We’re excited to report that Sabbath Assembly will be part of the 2011 Roadburn Festival lineup, set for Friday, April 15th at the Midi Theatre, Tilburg, Holland. Sabbath Assembly is a modern response to the musical activities of a cult known as The Process Church of the Final Judgment. In the late 60′s and into the 70′s, The Process opened chapters in London, Europe and across the United States. Processians dressed in black cloaks, walked the streets with German Shepherds and sang of the gnostic reconciliation of Christ and Satan. Sabbath Assembly has re-charged the cult’s original hymns for the current generation.

Stephen O’ Malley comments: “Greg and I are proud and honored to announce that Caspar Brötzmann Massaker will be performing set during the Sunn O))) curated day at Roadburn Festival, April 15th 2011. Brötzmann and his band have been a major source of inspiration on both of us over the years and we are very enthusiastic about the booking.” Also appearing on the bill are Winter, Corrosion of Conformity (“Animosity” lineup), Earth, Scorn, Beaver, Hooded Menace, Menace Ruine, Aluk Todolo, The Secret, Atilla’s Csihar’s Void Ov Voices and Sunn O))). As curator, Sunn O))) (Greg Anderson and Stephen O’Malley) are personally selecting the bands that will play during their special event, as well as performing a headlining show. Sunn O))) is Roadburn’s fourth curator, following David Tibet in 2008, Neurosis in 2009 and Triptykon’s Tom Gabriel Warrior at this year’s festival in April.

Mamiffer, formed in the desert of California and realized in the forests of Seattle, is based around piano compositions of Faith Coloccia, formerly of Everlovely Lightningheart. Mamiffer’s debut album is titled Hirror Enniffer. Mamiffer is a move away from a close collaborative process to one of solitary composition and exploration. A move to Seattle completed this process with a rotating cast of collaborators such as Aaron Turner (ISIS), Brian Cook and Chris Common (both from These Arms Are Snakes) providing arrangement, production and instrumentation. Also appearing on the bill are Winter, Corrosion of Conformity (“Animosity” lineup), Earth, Caspar Brötzmann Massaker, Scorn, Beaver, Hooded Menace, Menace Ruine, Aluk Todolo, The Secret, Atilla’s Csihar’s Void Ov Voices and Sunn O))).
